US-Bound Flights Resume in ShanghaiAfter tight security examinations, China Eastern Airlines and Air China announced their flights to the U.S. would take off at Shanghai's Pudong International Airport later today. Passengers were seen queuing at the counter of China Eastern Airlines for flight MU583, a MD-11 jetliner that can accommodate over 340 passengers, the company's largest passenger plane. Air China's CA985 flight, from Shanghai to Los Angeles, is scheduled to take off at 17:50. An Air China manager said they have changed the originally planned smaller plane into a Boeing 747-400 that can seat 404 passengers as a big number of passengers were forced to stay here due to the suspension of the air operation between China and the U.S. Previously, the U.S. United Airlines and Northwest Airlines had already resumed their China-U.S. operations. |
