Iran Worried About Israel's Exploitation of Attacks on USIran's foreign minister on Thursday expressed worry about Israel's exploitation of the terror attacks on the US Tuesday, saying that Israel is trying to exploit the attacks for "purely provocative purposes."The world community should prevent Israel from exploiting the situation in the U.S. as it might further complicate the Middle East situation, Kamal Kharazi said during a telephone conversation with his Austrian counterpart Benita Ferrero-Waldner, the official IRNA news agency reported. All Muslim nations have condemned the attacks in New York and Washington, Kharazi said, adding that Israel's behavior in light of the complex regional situation will have negative consequences in the minds of world Muslims and Muslim nations. The current situation in the Middle East is quite different from what it was in the past which warranted "a new approach (to the issue) in the agenda of the world community," he said. The Austrian foreign minister said that Austria is willing to continue consultations with Iran on the Middle East situation. The Mideast region has been rocked by almost one year of Israeli-Palestinian violence, which has left more that 750 people dead, most of them Palestinians. Iran, which does not recognize Israel, is a staunch supporter of the Palestinians. |
