Arab League Chief Calls for Protection of Arabs, Muslims in U.S.

Arab League (AL) chief Amr Moussa Thursday urged U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell to ensure no harm to Arabs and Muslims living in the U.S. after Tuesday's anti-U.S. attacks.

Moussa made the request during a telephone conversation with Powell after an emergency meeting of AL delegates, Egypt's state- run MENA news agency reported.

Moussa said that he had called for "no harm" to be fallen to the Arab and Islamic communities living in the United States, urging the U.S. not to jump to conclusions that would bring about " dangerous repercussions."

Meanwhile, permanent delegates to the pan-Arab forum called for holding an international conference to discuss anti-terrorism issues, criticizing Western media for waging an anti-Arab and Muslim campaign.
