US Chain Store to Open Branch in Northeast China

A member store funded by US- based Wal-Mart, the world's largest chain store retailer, will be opened on September 20 in Shenyang, this capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province.

The Pengli Branch, a three-floor shopping mall, will be the 15th chain store opened by Wal-Mart in China since its first Sam's Club member store and shopping plaza was opened in Shenzhen in 1996.

There are 14 Wal-Mart branches operating across the country at present, involving a total investment of 1.2 billion yuan (about 145 million U.S. dollars).

There are a total of 4,000 Wal-Mart member stores in the world, including 500 Sam's Clubs.
