OPAT Recommended for Children's Illnesses

China will popularize OPAT (Out Patient Parenteral Antibiotic Therapy), said Jiang Zaifang, a professor of the International Pediatric Association, at the ongoing 23rd International Congress of Pediatrics.

She told experts at the Roche satellite conference that application of OPAT helps reduce drug resistance of bacteria, and is highly recommended in other countries, especially in the field of pediatric infections, which will bring help to China's 300 million children.

Statistics showed that pediatric infections account for most cases at pediatric clinics, especially pneumonia and bronchitis.

OPAT is very suitable for pediatric infections and it has high demand for parenteral antibiotics. Rocephin -- the world's major antibiotic produced by the Swiss-based Roche Group, is highly recommended by experts.
