Cross-Civilization Exchanges, New Model of International Relations: Expert

Exchanges and communication between various civilizations will become a new model of international relations, said experts at the 21st Century Forum Wednesday.

Zi Zhongyun, an expert from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said that the new model is markedly different from the current model of international relations, characterized by political, economic and military contests and competitions.

Zi said that cross-civilization exchanges should be based on the principle of free will and independence. No one particular civilization should dominate exchanges worldwide.

Chen Luzhi, a Chinese expert on the United Nations, said that various civilizations should be respected and people could learn from different civilizations.

Moukala Ngouemo, an official at the Beijing Office of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), said that exchanges and dialogue between different cultures will prove that the ongoing process of globalization includes not only economic, financial and scientific factors but also cultural and spiritual ones.
