Beijing Party Chief Meets Overseas Chinese Celebrities from U.S.

Jia Qinglin, secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), met Thursday with an American delegation consisting of overseas Chinese celebrities.

Also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Jia said Beijing hopes friends from all over the world, especially overseas Chinese, to offer proposals for the construction of this capital city.

Extending thanks to overseas Chinese for their support for Beijing's bid for hosting the 2008 Olympic Games, which he said will be the most successful one ever in the history.

Mona So, on behalf of the delegation, said they will make their due contribution to the city construction as well as to hosting the Olympics.

The delegation is here at the invitation of the Subcommittee for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Compatriots and Overseas Chinese of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
