China's CPI Bounces Back in August
The consumer price index (CPI) in China inched up by 0.1 percent over the previous month in August, posting the first monthly rise since May.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) announced Thursday that the August CPI was 1.0 percent higher than one year ago. The average CPI for the first eight months of the year was 1.2 percent higher than that of the same period of last year.
In July, the CPI dipped 0.5 percent over the previous month.
According to NBS figures, the prices of foodstuffs, grain, eggs and meat went up in August, while the prices of garments, transport, telecommunications and fuels dropped.
