China's First Police Sports Contest Opens

The first police sports meet of China opened Wednesday in this capital of Hubei Province.

The meet offers three competitive games: shooting, swimming and cross-country racing. Over 300 police officers from 20 major Chinese cities are participating in the contest.

The event aims to improve the physical performance of China's police, a police sports organization official said.

Jiang Xianjin, director of the organization, said through various training exercises, competitions and exchanges with police in other countries, the overall quality of Chinese police has greatly improved.
