Large "Ice" Drug Case Being Heard in Shenzhen

A group of 15 people charged with making and trafficking a large amount of the drug "ice" are being tried in a court in Shenzhen, southern city of south China's Guangdong Province.

Of the 15 accused, nine are Hong Kong citizens. Zhuang Chucheng, a resident of Hong Kong, was head of the group.

They produced at least 22 tons of liquid "ice" and three tons of solid "ice" between June 1996 and July 2000, according to the court.

They made the drug in the Chinese mainland and sold it not only in the mainland, but also in Europe and the United States through international drug rings in the Philippines, the court said.

The case was jointly investigated by the Hong Kong police and the police in the mainland.
