Existent of Wildlife Confirmed in Mountains around Beijing

A recent investigation shows that wild animals do exist in the mountainous areas around Beijing.

Wang Minzhong, head of the wildlife protection station of Beijing, said that there is enough proof to believe that jackals, wolves, panthers and wild boar are living in the suburb forests of Beijing.

A research team made up of experts from the Beijing Normal University and Capital Normal University started the investigation in 1997 and have gained basic information about the wild animals.

Sources from the team of experts said that 50 to 70 wild boars, 20 jackals, 20 wolves, and 10 panthers are living in the counties around China's capital city.

The fact that many wild animals are appearing again in the forests indicates that the environment in Beijing's suburbs has improved during the past few decades, said Wang.
