One Chinese Person Injured in New York Attack

One Chinese person was injured in the disastrous attacks against the World Trade Center in New York, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC) said Wednesday morning.

The person, who was not identified and injured in the leg, works at the New York Office of the Beijing Municipal Economic and Trade Commission, which is in the World Trade Center.

A total of 14 Chinese institutions were in the World Trade Center, with about 30 staff members. By eight o'clock Wednesday morning (Beijing Time), no other casualty was reported.

A spokesman for the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) said its office in the U.S. moved out of the World Trade Center a few years ago and was not affected by the attacks.
