Chinese President Removes, Appoints Ambassadors

Chinese President Jiang Zemin removed and appointed the following ambassadors according to decisions made by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress:

Removed as ambassadors of the People's Republic of China were:

- Zhou Gang, from his post in the Republic of India;

- Zeng Xuyong, from the Kingdom of Nepal;

- Qiu Shengyun, from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan;

- Zhang Zhixiang, from the State of Kuwait;

- An Huihou, from the Arab Republic of Egypt;

- Cheng Tao, from the Republic of Mali;

- Ma Zhixue, from the Republic of Madagascar;

- Hong Hong, from the Republic of Guinea-Bissau;

- Li Jingxian, from the Republic of Uzbekistan;

- Zhang Zhimin, from the Kyrgyz Republic;

Appointed as ambassadors of the People's Republic of China were:

- Hua Junduo to the Republic of India;

- Wu Congyong to the Kingdom of Nepal;

- Chen Yonglong to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan;

- Zeng Xuyong to the State of Kuwait;

- Liu Xiaomin to the Arab Republic of Egypt;

- Ma Zhixue to the Republic of Mali;

- Xu Jinghu (female) to the Republic of Madagascar;

- Gong Yuanxing to the Republic of Guinea;

- Gao Kexiang to the Republic of Guinea-Bissau;

- Zhang Zhimin to the Republic of Uzbekistan;

- Hong Jiuyin to the Kyrgyz Republic;

Sha Zukang was appointed as delegate and ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Office of the United Nations in Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland, replacing Qiao Zonghui.
