Pakistan, China to Collaborate for Setting up Technology Incubators

Pakistan and China will actively collaborate for setting up Science and Technology Parks and technology incubators at various sites in Pakistan.

This was decided in a meeting held Monday between Pakistan's Ministry of Science and Technology and a 5-member Chinese delegation headed by professor Kong Deyong, president of the National Research Center for S&T Development of China.

Pakistani Minister for Science and Technology Atta-ur-Rahman said on the occasion that China's successful experience in the promotion of high-tech industry and commercialization of research fruits through the establishment of technology parks and incubators would be useful for Pakistan in its endeavors to establish R&D-Industry linkages in this regard

He stressed the need for the two sides to identify some market driven projects in various disciplines of S&T.

It is known that during the 15th Session of the Pak-China Joint Committee on S&T Cooperation held at Islamabad last year, Pakistan was given commitments of assistance in S&T sector by China, which has established 53 Technology Parks and Zones in its Torch Program focusing on new materials, biotechnology, electronics and informatics, energy saving and environmental protection.
