U.S. Suffers Extensive Attacks in Political, Commercial Centers
The United States suffered extensive attacks against its political and commercial installations Tuesday Morning.
In New York, the twin towers of the world-famous 110-story World Trade Center in New York were destroyed and collapsed to the ground after being hit by two aircraft around 9:00a.m. (1300GMT).
In Washington, the U.S. Defense Department building Pentagon was hit by an aircraft almost at the same time when explosions occurred in New York.
All major government buildings in Washington have been evacuated. They include the Congress, the White House, the Defense Department, the State Department and the Treasury Department.
The Federal Aviation Administration has shut down all airports across the country.
President George W. Bush said the earlier aircraft crushes into the World Trade Center buildings was "an apparent terrorist attack on our country."
