Pakistan and China will actively collaborate for setting up Science and Technology Parks and technology incubators at various sites in Pakistan.

This was decided in a meeting held Monday between Pakistan's Ministry of Science and Technology and a 5-member Chinese delegation headed by professor Kong Deyong, president of the National Research Center for S&T Development of China.

Pakistani Minister for Science and Technology Atta-ur-Rahman said on the occasion that China's successful experience in the promotion of high-tech industry and commercialization of research fruits through the establishment of technology parks and incubators would be useful for Pakistan in its endeavors to establish R&D-Industry linkages in this regard

He stressed the need for the two sides to identify some market driven projects in various disciplines of S&T.

It is known that during the 15th Session of the Pak-China Joint Committee on S&T Cooperation held at Islamabad last year, Pakistan was given commitments of assistance in S&T sector by China, which has established 53 Technology Parks and Zones in its Torch Program focusing on new materials, biotechnology, electronics and informatics, energy saving and environmental protection.
