Arab FMs Condemn Israeli Isolation of East Jerusalem

Arab foreign ministers on Monday slammed Israel for trying to isolate Arab East Jerusalem from the Palestinian West Bank in an attempt to stress its occupation.

"All Israeli practices in Jerusalem are completely illegitimate," they said in a statement issued at the end of a two- day meeting, calling for an end of Israeli seizure of Orient House, the representative office of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in East Jerusalem, and other Palestinian institutions.

"East Jerusalem is part of the occupied Palestinian territories," the statement stressed, renewing an appeal for international protection for the Palestinians amid Israeli continued aggressions.

The ministers warned the international community, especially the United States, that the continuation of ignoring Israeli brutal practices would lead the region to a war.

The two-day meeting focused on the current Mideast crisis and other issues regarding the Arab world, such as Israeli occupation of Syria's Golan Heights and Lebanon's Shebaa Farms.

Continued Palestinian-Israeli violence has been raging in the Middle East since September last year, leaving more than 750 people dead, most of them Palestinians.
