CASS Graduate School Starts New Semester
The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Graduate School started a new semester Monday, which happens to be the national Teachers' Day.
In a speech for graduate students newly enroled in China's top research body in social sciences, Zou Dongtao, vice dean of the school, said that innovation and creativity should be greatly encouraged among all the students.
The CASS Graduate School set an enrollment record this semester with 408 new students, including 203 applicants for doctor's degrees, 168 students for master's degrees, ten students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and 27 students from other countries.
The CASS originated from the philosophy and social sciences department of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 1977. The CASS Graduate School was set up on September 25, 1978.
