China's Top Legislator Returns from Vietnam


Li Peng Returns to Beijing After Vietnam Tour
Li Peng, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), returned Monday afternoon after a three-day official goodwill visit to Vietnam.

Among those greeting Li and his entourage at the Great Hall of the People were Vice-Chairman Tian Jiyun of the NPC Standing Committee, State Councilor Luo Gan, and other senior officials as well as some Vietnamese diplomatic envoys in China.

Li's entourage included his wife Zhu Lin; Member of the NPC Standing Committee, Vice-Chairman of the NPC Ethnic Affairs Committee and Chairman of the Sino-Vietnamese Friendship Group Yin Kesheng; Member of the NPC Standing Committee and Chairman of the Commission of Legislative Affairs of the NPC Standing Committee Gu Angran; Member of the NPC Standing Committee Jia Zhijie, and some other senior officials.

Li, also member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, was invited by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Standing Committee of the National Assembly of Vietnam.
