Tianjin Reports Record High Duty Income

Tianjin Customs reported a record high of duty income in the first eight months this year, said sources recently.

Statistics show that duties collected by the Customs totaled some 12.7 billion yuan (about US$1.54 billion) at the end of August, increased by 15.3 percent compared with the same period last year. Tariff and import duties amounted to 5.29 billion and 7.33 billion yuan (638.5 million and US$886.3 million) respectively.

Experts with Tianjin Customs said that the record high duty income was attributed to China's stable economic growth, the country's tough crackdown on smuggling activities as well as the Custom's efficient declaration procedures.
