Guangdong Exports More Potted Plants, Flowers
South China's Guangdong Province reported US$8.37 million-worth of import and export of flowers and potted plants in the first seven months of the year, up 26.5 percent from the same period last year. Of the total, export of flowers and plants was US$5.17 million, up 43.2 percent, said local customs sources.
According to the sources, 44.6 percent of Guangdong's export and import total of flowers and potted plants were done by Guangzhou, one of the major gates to the outside world in south China and also the capital of Guangdong Province.
Potted plants and flowers grown in Guangdong are mainly exported to markets in other Asian countries and regions other than the Chinese mainland, Europe and North America.
Guangdong, which has been China's forerunner of reform and open- up drive, is one of the country's leading bases for production of flowers and potted plants.
