Participants of a high-level international forum on China and world issues, including former UN Secretary-General Boutros Boutros Ghali, were guests at a banquet Sunday night hosted by Beijing Mayor Liu Qi.

During the evening, Liu told renowned politicians, experts and entrepreneurs from different countries that Beijing is waiting for their suggestions on construction and development of the city.

Beijing, which was granted the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, will combine the preparation for the Olympics together with modernization of the city, the home to some 13 million people, he told the participants of the International Forum on the 21st Century's China and the World, which will begin Monday.

Other noted guests invited to the forum include former German prime minister Helmut Kohl, and Australia's former prime ministers Robert Hawke and Paul Keating.
