APEC Finance Program Passed by AFMM

The APEC Finance and Development Program, which aims at improving the financial capacity of the APEC members, was passed during the Eighth APEC Finance Ministers Meeting.

The program will be submitted to the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting to be held in Shanghai this October.

The three-year program was initiated by China in response to Chinese President Jiang Zemin's call for promoting economic cooperation and capacity building.

The Chinese government will allocate funds for the program so that it can conduct personnel training, do research and hold symposiums.

The program will also offer various training courses to facilitate exchanges between personnel in charge of finance and spread new knowledge among them.
