Ethiopia, Sudan Pleased With Implementation of Bilateral Accords

Ethiopia and the Sudan have expressed their satisfaction over the implementation of the agreements signed last May by the two sides, the Ethiopian Herald newspaper reported on Saturday.

At the 5th Ethiopian-Sudanese Joint Ministerial Commission meeting held in Addis Ababa in May, the two sides signed the agreements mainly focusing on the need to promote the road and telecommunications links between the two countries in order to facilitate the use of Port Sudan by Ethiopia and the import of petroleum and petroleum products from the Sudan.

Award El-Karim, advisor of the Sudanese Foreign Ministry and also the head of the country's delegation, arrived here on September 5 to attend a three-day meeting with his Ethiopian counterpart to assess the implementation of the agreements.

During his stay, Award El-Karim also held talks with other Ethiopian government officials on the bilateral cooperation and various issues of common concern.
