Library Provides Information Service for Lawmakers

The National Library of China, Asia's largest library, has become a professional information provider for the central government in its lawmaking efforts, an official said over the weekend.

Zhang Yafang, vice-secretary of the library's branch of the Communist Party of China, said at a symposium here that a special branch library has established a special group to study the national situation, providing consulting services to the country's lawmakers.

Wang Guifang, an official with the National People's Congress (NPC) Central Committee's information center, expressed gratitude for the library's help. Half of the deputies to the Fourth Session of the Ninth NPC in March this year sought information provided by the library, Wang said.

Zhang said the library is preparing for a series of lectures on culture and history for central governmental officials.
