China to Further Improve People's Living Conditions
China is to further improve its people's living conditions in the next five years and cater to the increased housing demand, concomitant with the robust economic growth, sources at the
Ministry of Construction
said Saturday.
China plans to construct some 5.7 billion sq m of housing in the next five years. The average housing area per capita in China' s urban regions will reach 22 sq m by 2005.
Experts at the ministry said that every family will possess an apartment with complete functional facilities by 2005. Efforts will be made to upgrade old apartments and houses.
