Premier Zhu Holds Talks With Russian Prime MinisterThe two leaders are expected to explore ways to boost bilateral economic cooperation and increase exchanges in the fields of education, culture, sports, health, science and technology, environmental protection and a host of other areas. The Chinese premier said upon his arrival that he would, together with his Russian counterpart Kasyanov, further push the bilateral cooperation for substantial progress in line with the principles of Sino-Russian Good-Neighborly Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, which was signed by Chinese President Jiang Zemin and Russian President Vladimir Putin in July this year. He said the trade volume between the two countries surpassed 8 billion U.S. dollars in 2000 and the figure was 4.6 billion dollars in the first half of this year. "This indicates that the two economies are highly complementary to each other and there is a great potential and broad prospect for bilateral cooperation," Zhu said. |
