China Sets Standards for Pollution-Free Farm Products
The Ministry of Culture Friday announced industrial standards for China's first group of 73 pollution-free agricultural products, in a move to promote food safety and quality across the country.
Liu Zhenwei, a ministry official, told Xinhua that the standardization, to be implemented from next month, is mainly concerned with the growth conditions, cultivation techniques and quality of vegetables, fruits and tea.
Earlier this year, the ministry initiated a program to supervise vegetables and fruits ``from field to table".
It is learned that the ministry is planning to set standards for all products within five years.
