Beijing Reception Marks DPRK Founding

The Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the China- DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) Friendship Society jointly held a reception here Friday to mark the 53rd anniversary of the DPRK founding.

Li Shuzheng, president of the society, said the Chinese and DPRK peoples have always supported and helped each other and forged a deep friendship.

The just-concluded official goodwill visit to the DPRK by Jiang Zemin, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and president of China, will play a significant role in promoting bilateral relations in the new century, Li said.

She stated that China will join hands with the DPRK to continuously consolidate and strengthen bilateral friendly relations, which will last from generation to generation.

Ryu Yong Mun, charge d'affaires of the DPRK Embassy in Beijing, and some 100 people from all walks of life in the Chinese capital attended the reception.
