MECC Strongly Denounces US Government's Groundless Sanction

China Metallurgical Equipment Corporation (MECC) on September 5 made a formal statement, strongly condemning the US government's groundless sanction against it. The full text of the statement is hereby given as follows:

The US government has decided, starting from September 1, to impose sanctions against our company under the pretext of missile proliferation. Our company was shocked on hearing the fabricated accusation and expressed our strong indignation to US government's arbitrary decision. Our solemn statement is as hereunder:

  • 1. Our company has been a civil-use industry company ever since its establishment. We have been doing our business within the country's designated business framework. Our company is mainly involved in manufacturing and contracting metallurgical equipment and engineering projects both at home and abroad, import and export of machinery and electric products. With 30 years development behind it, our company enjoys a high reputation in metallurgical, mechanical and electrical field both at home and abroad. In export business, our company strictly abides by the country's various management regulations and the regulation of export limitations. Our company has never exported any military equipment, weapon and other engineering parts to any other country.

  • 2. China and Pakistan are friendly neighboring countries. Our company has for long and as always kept sound and normal trade relations with Pakistani clients. Over dozens of years in the past, our company ever exported to Pakistan large-typed mining and ore-dressing devices, complete sets of metallurgical equipment, large-sized mining trucks, metallurgical ovens, cooling towers, machine-and-cutting tools, derricks, train axles, jacks, aluminum and other raw materials. And we have succeeded in supplying equipment for copper and gold mining and dressing and other projects in Pakistan. Trade between our company and Pakistan is carried out in accordance with international trade practices and it is also in line with China's law and regulations. It is handled in a proper, rational and legal way. The US government's sanction against our company is utterly groundless and so we can never accept it.

  • 3. The US government's decision has greatly damaged our company's reputation and business both at home and abroad. We strongly demand that the US government revoke its sanction against our company, clarify the truth and clear away its influence. Our company will reserve the right for further finding out the matter and for all the losses incurred therefrom.
