APEC Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting Starts in Suzhou

The Eighth APEC Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting started Thursday morning in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province.

The two-day meeting was chaired by Jin Liqun, China's Vice Financial Minister and Chair of the Eighth APEC Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting.

The delegates from all APEC 21 economies and three international organizations will discuss the Progress Report on Reforming International Financial Architecture, Progress Report of the Policy Initiatives under the APEC Finance Ministers Meeting (AFMM) Process, Review of the Eighth AFMM Process and the Joint Ministerial Statement.

Wang Guangya, chair of the APEC Senior Officials Meeting (SOM), and vice foreign minister briefed the participants on preparations for the Ninth APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in Shanghai in this October.

Chinese delegates introduced the agenda and program of the Eighth AFMM during the meeting.

Sources said that two sessions will be added to the AFMM, one is the strategic review of the APEC Finance Ministers process, the other is the ministerial retreat. Besides, the tangible dialogue between finance ministers and the representatives from private sectors was also added to the AFMM.
