China's WTO Entry to Create More Investment Opportunities

China's entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO) will provide unprecedented opportunities for its trade partners worldwide, said a senior official Wednesday at a current forum on the development of western China.

Sun Zhenyu, vice-minister of foreign trade and economic cooperation, said that after China's WTO admission, service sectors such as banking, insurance, telecommunications, trade and tourism will be gradually opened to foreign investors.

"China is now quickening its pace in formulating investment policies and regulations in line with international standards, and establishing a foreign trade mechanism catering to its actual conditions," said Sun.

The official said that the economic growth of China's western region will bring more opportunities to foreign investors. With the implementation of the strategy to develop western China, the regional economy will witness further growth.

Sun urged foreign investors to take full advantage of China's western development efforts and help the western region release its economic potential.
