Taiwan Air Company Becomes Shareholder in Mainland Counterpart

China Airlines of Taiwan Province became a new shareholder in China Cargo Airlines Ltd (CCA), China's first specialized air cargo company, Wednesday in Shanghai.

CCA was jointly set up in 1998 by the China Eastern Airlines Co. Ltd and the China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company (COSCO), with a registered capital of 500 million yuan.

With this share expansion, the registered capital increased to three times the original. CEA now owns a 55 percent stake of CCA; COSCO, 20 percent; and China Airlines, 25 percent.

Industry experts believe that this cooperation move will be conducive to the early realization of three direct links between the mainland and Taiwan, namely, direct trade, transportation and postal service across the Taiwan Straits.
