China's West to Have Orderly Market

China will spare no efforts to bring about an orderly market in its western regions in order to create favorable conditions for western development, according to Deputy Director Han Xinmin of the General Administration for Industry and Commerce (GAIC) Wednesday in Xi'an.

Han made this remark while attending the ongoing China Western Forum in this capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province.

According to Han, the GAIC will launch a campaign against market disorder in the west, including the production and sale of fake and shoddy products, regional barriers, market monopoly, and unfair competition.

Han also announced Wednesday a series of preferential policies from the GAIC to support the development of the west.

The major industries to be favored are electric power, oil and petrochemicals, non-ferrous metals, phosphoric chemicals, among others.

According to him, the GAIC will support the reform of state- owned enterprises and the development of the non-public-owned economy, and direct more foreign investment to the west.

It will also encourage state-owned enterprises to actively explore markets by promoting their brand-name products.
