HK Administrative Secretary to Visit US

Administrative Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Donald Tsang said Tuesday he will leave for the United States this week on his first overseas duty visit since taking up his new post in May.

Tsang said the purpose of his visit was to provide key business and political contacts in the United States with a better understanding of Hong Kong's high degree of autonomy under the " One Country, Two Systems" policy.

"I will, of course, underscore the importance we place on our long-standing and strong bilateral links with the United States, not only in areas of trade and investment but also the close people-to-people bonds that span the Pacific," he said.

"I will take the opportunity to introduce the core values of the Brand Hong Kong program to key business and political contacts in the United States which will serve to reinforce all of the advantages we offer as Asia's world city and the best place in Asia to do business," he said.

During the seven-day visit to Los Angeles, New York and Washington D.C. from September 6 to 13, Tsang is scheduled to meet senior U.S. officials and politicians, think-tanks and policy groups and business leaders.

He will also have a number of important speaking engagements and discussions with influential groups and organizations, including the Center for Strategic and International Studies, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and the American Enterprise Institute.
