Nepal Committed to Enhancing Friendship With China: PMNepali Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba told a visiting Chinese military delegationTuesday in Kathmandu that Nepal is committed to maintaining and strengthening the centuries-old friendly relations with China.Deuba said as Nepal values very much its long friendly relations with China that date back to hundreds of year ago, the Himalayan kingdom will firmly stick to the one-China policy and will not allow any anti-China activities to be conducted on Nepalese soil. "Nepal will support China as ever at the international stage on all issues, including the issues of Tibet and human rights," the Nepalese prime minister assured the Chinese delegation. Deuba also expressed his gratitude for the assistance and support China has extended to Nepal for its economic development, especially in the fields of infrastructure, industry, health and hydropower. Speaking on the occasion, Lt. General Liu Baochen, head of the Military Delegation of Neighboring Military Regions from Chengdu Military Region of China, expressed appreciation and gratitude to the assurance by the Nepalese prime minister of consistent support to the one-China policy and its pledges not to allow any anti- China activities to be conducted in Nepal. "The goodwill visit of my delegation is in response to the consensus reached by the leaders of our two countries in 1996 to build good-neighborly partnership that will be handed down from generation to generation," Liu Baochen said. "In particular, our visit is aimed at further strengthening the good relations between the armies of the two countries, especially promoting the relations between the Royal Nepal Army and China's Chengdu Military Region and Lanzhou Military Region," he added. Liu voiced his confidence that the good relations and cooperations between the Nepali army and Chengdu and Lanzhou military regions that adjoin Nepal will contribute to maintaining peace and stability of the bordering areas.
