Hezbollah Vows to React to Any Israeli Infringement on Lebanon

A senior official of the Lebanese resistance group Hezbollah said on Monday that the group will react strongly to any Israeli infringement against Lebanon, the official NNA news agency reported.

Addressing a gathering in a village in southern Lebanon, Nabil Kawook, Hezbollah's military commander in southern Lebanon, said that Hezbollah, or Party of God, will respond to any Israeli infringement from air, sea and land.

"We will have no hesitation to repulse any harm to Lebanon's sovereignty," he said, adding that "Israel can not thoroughly protect its settlers from our attacks."

Last weekend, Israeli army set up dozens of surface-to-surface missile batteries along the Lebanese-Israeli border.

The quality and size of the buildup indicated a major air and land offensive is in the works and is awaiting the final order from Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, the Oriental radio reported on Monday.

Sharon is probably planning an onslaught to wipe out Hezbollah's missile power, which is estimated by Israel to have more than 8,000 missiles, including Katyusha rockets and Iranian Dawn missiles that can hit central Israel, the radio added.

Western diplomats in Beirut were quoted as saying that the unusual reinforcements were designed to confront a major operation by Hezbollah.

Kawook said that Hezbollah "is aware of the real motives behind the enemy's loud noise and is unshakably determined to do its duty to support the uprising of our Palestinian brethren at all costs."
