Two working groups of the third World Conference Against Racism (WCAR) are busy with drawing up draft documents for the conference.

As of Monday, Working Group I has held four meetings on the draft declaration of the conference while Working Group II has held six meetings on the draft program of action.

So far 14 paragraphs contained the draft declaration have been adopted, dealing with the topics such as United Nations Declaration on Granting Independence to Colonial Countries and universal accession and ratification of the International Convention of Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, Marc Bossuyt of Belgium, chairman of Working Group I, said here on Monday.

The resolutions regarding international actions to combat racism and racial discrimination, international cooperation for promotion of human rights and fighting racism and racial discrimination, and making the 21st century a century of human rights and the eradication of discrimination, have also been adopted, Bossuyt added.

According to Working Group II Chairman Bonaventure M. Bowa of Zambia, five topics of the draft program of action have been approved, namely linking the development of Africans and African descent with financial institutions, promoting justice system to fight against racism, protecting indigenous people from being discriminated, protect migrants and their families, and ensuring migrants and their rights in the work place.
