Chinese Defense Minister Arrives in Trinidal and Tobago

Chinese Defense Minister Chi Haotian arrived in Port of Spain Monday for an official visit to the Caribbean country of Trinidal and Tobago.

In a speech made at the airport, Chi said his visit is aimed at promoting mutual understanding, deepening friendship, and expanding bilateral coorperation between the two countries and armed forces.

Chi, who is also vice chairman of the Central Military Commission and a state councilor, said that he was pleased to see the smooth development of the relations between the two countries since both sides established diplomatic ties 27 years ago.

Before his arrival here, Chi had visited Colombia and Venezuela.
