Nepali Army Head Reaffirms Support for One-China PolicyChief of Army Staff of the Royal Nepal Army General Prajwalla Rana reaffirmed Monday in Kathmandu that the Nepalese army fully supports the one-China policy and will not allow any anti-China activities to be conducted in Nepal."The bilateral relations between Nepal and China based on mutual respects remain the cornerstone of our relationship. As a result, Nepal fully supports China's one-China policy and will also ensure that any activities detrimental to China's security interests will not be allowed within its territory," Rana told a visiting Chinese military delegation. Rana said as Nepal-China relations in the new millennium are very important, the Nepal army is not only concerned with the security interests of Nepal, but also concerned with those of China. Expressing great gratitude to the support of the People's Liberation Army has extended to the Royal Nepal Army in its modernization program, Rana voiced his wishes that the friendly relations between the two armies will be further enhanced in the future. Speaking on the occasion, Lt. General Liu Baochen, head of the Military Delegation of Neighboring Military Regions from Chengdu Military Region of China, expressed appreciation and gratitude to the support by the Nepalese side to the one-China policy and its pledges not to allow any anti-China activities to be conducted in Nepal. "The goodwill visit of my delegation is aimed at further strengthening the good relations between the armies of the two countries, especially promoting the relations between the Royal Nepal Army and China's Chengdu Military Region and Lanzhou Military Region," Liu Baochen said. "As these two military regions adjoin Nepal, we will cooperate more closely with the Nepal army in maintaining peace and stability of the bordering areas," he said.
