HK Delegation to Attend FATF Meeting in Paris

Hong Kong's Commissioner for Narcotics, Clarie Lo, will lead a delegation of experts to attend the Plenary Meeting of the Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering (FATF) in Paris to be held from September 3 to 7, the government announced Sunday.

The meeting is the first Plenary Meeting of the thirteenth round of the FATF which is under the presidency of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Lo, who is representing Hong Kong in this role, will preside at the meeting in her capacity as President of the FATF.

FATF is a pre-eminent international organization established after a G-7 Summit in 1989 to examine and recommend anti-money laundering standards and promote anti-money laundering message worldwide.

The upcoming Plenary Meeting will discuss and agree on the program of work for the FATF under Hong Kong's residency. It will also discuss future work of the FATF under the Non-cooperative Countries or Territories (NCCT) exercise.

Members of the HK delegation include representatives from the Narcotics Division of the Security Bureau, the Hong Kong Police Force, the Customs & Excise Department, the Department of Justice, the Securities and Futures Commission and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority.
