HK Photo Exhibition Arouses Anti-cult Sentiment"It's just too shocking to learn that Li Hongzhi and his Falun Gong have deprived so many people of their lives and happiness," said a gray-haired woman, after lingering long before the photos of Chen Guo, a 19-year-old Falun Gong believer who set herself on fire in Tian'anmen Square in January this year. The photos showed how the suicidal blaze has turned the young pretty music girl student to a severely burnt victim who can no longer pursue her music career and normal life. "I hope those stubborn Falun Gong follower will abandon the cult as soon as possible," the old woman said. Henry H. L. Hu, president of Shue Yan College and also a senior expert of juvenile delinquency, said: "It is really regretful that a talented young girl, whom the society has devoted so much efforts and money to bring up, has ruined her life and career in such a way." Standing before the photos of the forged ID materials of Li Hongzhi, Sze Chin Hung, a successful businessman, said: "How can a man who even lied about his birth date and resume be trustworthy to others?" "It will cause severe damages to the society if nothing has been done to prevent Falun Gong from spreading, and the central government's ban of the cult is complete right," said Sze. Many viewers came to the exhibition with their families. K.K. Kwok Kit Kwan, a member of the Hong Kong Youth Association, brought his 12-year-old son to the exhibition. "I want my son to know the true nature of Falun Gong and to know what is evil cult," he said. A granny, who braved heavy rains to the exhibition from her home more than ten miles away, watched photos carefully and took notes occasionally. She said she will distribute among her neighbors and friends the materials she got from the working staff at the exhibition. The exhibition, another large-scale anti-cult photo show after the one held this March, has won support and assistance from some 100 local organizations. Opened Sunday, the exhibition with more than 600 photos revealing the evil nature of Falun Gong will run for three days.
