Japan Wins Men's 4x100m Relay at Universiade

Japan beat arch-rival the United States in the men's 4x100-meter relay final with a winning of 38.77 seconds Saturday in the University Games.

The U.S. foursome finished second in 39.14 and Italy was third in 39.35.

Japan's Kenji Nara, who ran the third leg, caught up American leader Kaaron Conwright and completed a perfect baton-exchange with Yusuke Omae.

Though Gerald Williams tried hard and displayed his tremendous speed on the home straight for the U.S. team, his effort didn't pay off. Nara burst home first to wind up a big victory for Japan.
