Shipping Resumes Across South China Strait
Shipping services across Qiongzhou Strait in south China resumed Friday after 66 hours of suspension due to rainstorms.

More than 5,000 passengers and 1,000 vehicles stranded in Hai' an City of Guangdong Province were expected to leave for their destinations Friday.

Police were extra alert when patrolling along the coast to prevent small boats crossing the Strait while the weather was still not very good.

According to the local meteorological station, a tropical depression lingering in south China late this week has brought heavy rain and affected the normal lives of local people.
