Rainstorm Brings Heavy Economic Losses to South China Province

A rainstorm for several days hitting south China's Hainan Province has brought direct economic losses of 1.37 billion yuan, according to statistics.

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.

A total of 19 counties, cities and over 280 towns with a total population of 2.31 million were hit by the heavy rain caused by a tropical depression.

Swollen rivers have inundated farmland and houses, damaged water conservancy facilities and blocked transportation.

The local governments are making efforts to rescue people stranded in the floods and minimize the economic losses.
