New Minister of Agriculture Appointed
China's top legislature appointed Du Qinglin as Minister of Agriculture Friday, replacing Chen Yaobang.
The appointment was made at the 23th meeting of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (
NPC
).
Du, with a master degree majoring in economy, was born in November 1946. He had been the secretary of the
Hainan
Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China since 1998.
