China to Issue New RMB Notes
China will issue two new types of Renminbi (RMB) yuan notes with a face values of 50 yuan and 10 yuan, respectively, according to the
People's
Bank of China
, the country's central bank, Thursday.
The 50 yuan note has green as its dominant hue, while the 10 yuan note is dark-blue.
Both notes have a profile of Mao Zedong on one side.
On the reverse of the 50 yuan note is a picture of the Potala Palace in the
Tibet
Autonomous Region, and on the reverse of the 10 yuan note is a picture of the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River.
The new notes will be in circulation starting September 1, the central bank announced.
