China Keen to Strengthen Cooperation with FAO: Vice-Premier

China is willing to strengthen cooperation with the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) to help it realize its goal of eliminating poverty in the country, Vice-Premier Wen Jiabao told an FAO official Tuesday.

"China attaches great importance to the food security issue," Wen said when meeting with Jacques Diouf, director-general of the FAO, noting that joint projects with the FAO in China have been very successful.

Diouf said that the successful FAO projects in China have been models for the rest of the world, and that he appreciated very much the good relationship between the Chinese government and the FAO.
