Fourteen Drug Traffickers Fall in Police Raid in SW China

A police raid in southwest China 's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on late Tuesday and early Wednesday has led to the arrest of 14 drug traffickers and the seizure of 45.3 grams of heroin.

Ninety-nine drug addicts were also detained in the raid in Binyang county where police said drug-related crimes have been rampant.

Guangxi is one of the worst drug-stricken regions in the country. It has a large population of drug addicts, and drug- related crimes are spreading from urban to rural areas.

Senior police officers in the region said they will launch a massive crackdown on ordinary drug addicts in the coming months, in a bid to wipe out the retail consumption market for drugs.
