Chinese Vice-Premier Meets Brunei Princess Masna

Chinese Vice-Premier Qian Qichen said that China will, under the guidance of the China-Brunei joint communique issued in 1999, strengthen cooperation with Brunei to continuously push for new progresses in bilateral relations.

Qian made the remark here Wednesday in meeting with visiting Brunei Princess Masna who is here at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.

Qian noted that in the past 10 years, the two countries have had more and more high-level contacts and substantial results in bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields like politics, economy, trade and culture.

New highs of bilateral cooperation have emerged in recent years, added Qian.

He spoke highly of the Brunei Royal Family's important contributions to the development of bilateral ties in the past years, voicing that China has always paid much attention to its good-neighborly friendship and cooperation with Brunei.

Qian also expressed his appreciation for Brunei's achievements in economic and social development and its positive role in promoting regional cooperation.

Masna voiced her pleasure at visiting China again and participating in commemorative activities marking the 10th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties.

She spoke positively of bilateral good-neighborly friendship and said that Brunei will enhance exchanges of visits and contacts with China, so as to push bilateral friendship and cooperation to a new level.

Masna is here as guest of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Besides Beijing, Masna is also scheduled to visit Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province.
